  32. .TH UUID_UNPARSE 3 "May 2009" "util-linux" "Libuuid API"
  33. .SH NAME
  34. uuid_unparse \- convert a UUID from binary representation to a string
  35. .SH SYNOPSIS
  36. .nf
  37. .B #include <uuid.h>
  38. .sp
  39. .BI "void uuid_unparse(uuid_t " uu ", char *" out );
  40. .BI "void uuid_unparse_upper(uuid_t " uu ", char *" out );
  41. .BI "void uuid_unparse_lower(uuid_t " uu ", char *" out );
  42. .fi
  43. .SH DESCRIPTION
  44. The
  45. .B uuid_unparse
  46. function converts the supplied UUID
  47. .I uu
  48. from the binary representation into a 36-byte string (plus trailing '\e0')
  49. of the form 1b4e28ba\-2fa1\-11d2\-883f\-0016d3cca427 and stores this
  50. value in the character string pointed to by
  51. .IR out .
  52. The case of the hex digits returned by
  53. .B uuid_unparse
  54. may be upper or lower case, and is
  55. dependent on the system-dependent local default.
  56. .PP
  57. If the case of the
  58. hex digits is important then the functions
  59. .B uuid_unparse_upper
  60. and
  61. .B uuid_unparse_lower
  62. may be used.
  63. .SH "CONFORMING TO"
  64. This library unparses UUIDs compatible with OSF DCE 1.1.
