Roadmap

General view

The various developments at Aktivisda are guided solely by the desire to "simplify the creation of visuals by all those who contribute to the common good".

In particular:

  • ensure that any organisation can create and administer its own Aktivisda instance without any technical knowledge;
  • ensure that the tool is emancipating for users and organisations
  • be careful not to create new needs or promote a destructive system

Main phases

Phase 1. Validating the concept

The 2020/2022 period has been used to validate the relevance of the tool and its operation, and to gradually develop the various functions required.

Phase 2. Enabling widespread use

From 2021 onwards, a number of organisations began to show an interest in Aktivisda, and we then had to start working to enable them to use it.

The aim is to complete this phase by mid-2024.

The topics covered are of several types:

  • Forming and sharing information: this also involves identifying what information the administrators of an instance need.
  • understand what types of organisation Aktivisda is aimed at: it turns out that the tool was initially designed in conjunction with Extinction Rebellion. Why did the tool work so well with this movement?
  • developing an administration interface: administering an instance for non-technical people was a very big challenge because there were a lot of subtleties when adding images. We had to identify the processes and code an interface to apply them.
  • add the functionalities required by each organisation: each organisation has its own specific requirements when it comes to creating visuals. For example, some organisations use a lot of photos, others use images. In order for Aktivisda to be used by certain organisations, it is essential that certain functionalities are included.
  • simplify maintenance: manual modifications each time a version is upgraded are completely out of the question as soon as several instances are using Aktivisda. We therefore had to review the various instance creation and update processes in order to keep human effort to a minimum.

Phase 3. Rolling out to all organisations

Once the software has been tried and tested in a few organisations, it will be possible to roll it out much more widely. This would appear to be feasible from mid-2024.
