  1. * Novell Forge
  2. Novell Forge (<a
  3. href="http://forge.novell.com/">http://forge.novell.com/</a>)
  4. is a website managed by Novell to promote the development of
  5. open source applications and solutions. Novell Forge features
  6. communities, akin to foundries on SourceForge.net, which exist
  7. for the purpose of facilitating collaboration and information
  8. exchange about certain technologies or solutions. At Miguel's
  9. request, we have created a Mono community on Novell Forge that
  10. is administered by Miguel. This community, located at
  11. http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/community/?monocomm,
  12. provides a resource for interaction and collaboration on Mono
  13. and associated solutions. Each community has the ability to
  14. provide forums, mailing lists, FAQs, news, documentation,
  15. surveys, sample code, and links to related applications. The
  16. Mono community has been created for anyone interested in Mono
  17. to use, and the exact set of features offered at the community
  18. is determined by Miguel.
  19. Any individual or group that wishes to provide Mono-based solutions in
  20. an open source fashion is encouraged to host their solution on the
  21. Novell Forge website, free of charge. Once the project is hosted on
  22. Novell Forge, you can send Miguel an e-mail requesting that your project
  23. be associated with the Mono project. This promotes a symbiotic
  24. relationship where the growth of Mono applications helps to improve
  25. Mono, and the growth of Mono likewise helps to increase the visibility
  26. and usefulness of your applications.
  27. * Creating an Account
  28. A Novell Forge account is required in order to create a project on
  29. Novell Forge as well as for certain levels of participation within a
  30. community like the Mono community. In order to create an account, do
  31. the following:
  32. <ul>
  33. <li>Go to http://forge.novell.com/ and click on the "Register" link.
  34. <li>You will be redirected to the Novell Login page. This one resource
  35. is used by all of Novell's websites that require authentication, so if
  36. you already have a Novell login you may use that login here. Otherwise,
  37. simply create a login account.
  38. <li>You will be redirected back to the Novell Forge page. Click on the
  39. "create my Novell Forge account" link, near the top left of the page.
  40. <li>A form should be filled in with the correct information for you.
  41. If you like, choose an avatar and then submit the form.
  42. <li>Confirm the creation of your account.
  43. </ul>
  44. You should be good to go at this point. Now, to create a project,
  45. simply choose the "Start New Project" link from the left menu and follow
  46. the steps.
  47. Novell Forge offers a limited set of context-sensitive help links and a
