  This sample demonstrates how to play two animations simultaneously on different parts of a single avatar.

      Often times in a game the developer may want their character to play more than one animation at a time on different parts of the characters body. One example is having the character walk while they wave their hands at the same time. This requires the walk animation to be targeted at the characters legs and feet while the wave animation plays on the characters arms.
    </p>
    <p>
      In this sample we demonstrate how to play two of the built in avatar animations at the same time. The celebrate animation is used on most of the body while we play the wave animation on just the avatar’s right arm.

  <a name="ID4EPC"></a><h1 class="heading">How the Sample Works</h1><div id="ID4EPC" class="hxnx1">
    
    <p>
      The first thing you need in order to combine two animations is a <b>List&lt;Matrix&gt;</b> to hold the final list of bone transforms. The <b>AvatarAnimation.BoneTransforms</b> property returns a <b>ReadOnlyCollection&lt;Matrix&gt;</b>, you must create a new list so that you can change the values in the list.
    </p>
    <p>
      The sample works by first copying all of the bone transforms from the celebrate animation to the new list, and then overriding the bones that make up the right arm with the same bone transforms from the wave animation.
    </p>
    <p>
      To find the list of bone indices for the right arm, the <b>FindInfluencedBones</b> method is used. This method starts at a given <b>AvatarBone</b>, finds all of the children of that bone, and then returns a list of the bone indices. The <b>AvatarRenderer.ParentBones</b> property returns a list of the parent bone indices for each bone in the avatar. This list is used to determine all of the children of the given bone.
    </p>

      Given the list of bones that are influenced by the right arm, the bone transforms are overwritten with the ones from the wave animation to produce the final results.

      Developers can change the avatars bones not only by using an animation but can also do so programmatically. One idea is to extend the sample to bend the avatar’s legs and knees so it appears to be sitting down.
