  81. \section*{About this guide}
  82. This document describes all constants, types, variables, functions and
  83. procedures as they are declared in the units that come standard with \fpc.
  84. Throughout this document, we will refer to functions, types and variables
  85. with \var{typewriter} font. Functions and procedures gave their own
  86. subsections, and for each function or procedure we have the following
  87. topics:
  88. \begin{description}
  89. \item [Declaration] The exact declaration of the function.
  90. \item [Description] What does the procedure exactly do ?
  91. \item [Errors] What errors can occur.
  92. \item [See Also] Cross references to other related functions/commands.
  93. \end{description}
  94. The cross-references come in two flavors:
  95. \begin{itemize}
  96. \item References to other functions in this manual. In the printed copy, a
  97. number will appear after this reference. It refers to the page where this
  98. function is explained. In the on-line help pages, this is a hyperlink, on
  99. which you can click to jump to the declaration.
  100. \item References to Unix manual pages. (For Linux related things only) they
  101. are printed in \var{typewriter} font, and the number after it is the Unix
  102. manual section.
  103. \end{itemize}
  104. The chapters are ordered alphabetically. The functions and procedures in
  105. most cases also, but don't count on it. Use the table of contents for quick
  106. lookup.
